After three years in the movie industry I've decided to move on and to work in real-time graphics again. I've joined the Aechelon Technology graphics group, and I'm thrilled to work on their high-quality real-time flight simulator to assist pilots in training and environment familiarization.
I used to be a software engineer with the DreamWorks Animation Technology group, where I worked on the proprietary production renderer. I have had the opportunity to learn a lot about the making of 3D animated features. I've been fascinated by the production pipeline as a whole, from story boards, character animation and effects to the final rendering process. It was intriguing to see the immense complexity involved in producing an emotionally and visually rich experience for the audience. The iterative, dynamic, and fast paced nature of this process made the underlying software design and engineering very challenging. Inspired by the passion of my colleagues at the studio, I was excited to enhance the DreamWorks rendering system both in quality and performance and developed novel and better tools to support the creative expression of their artists.
