I'm a software engineer with the DreamWorks Animation Technology group, where I work on the proprietary production renderer. Since starting in August 2008 I have had the opportunity to learn more about the making of 3D animated features. I'm fascinated by the production pipeline as a whole, from story boards, character animation and effects to the final rendering process. It is intriguing to see the immense complexity involved in producing an emotionally and visually rich experience for the audience. The iterative, dynamic, and fast paced nature of this process makes the underlying software design and engineering very challenging. Inspired by the passion of my colleagues at the studio, I'm excited to enhance our rendering system both in quality and performance and to develop novel and better tools to support the creative expression of our artists.
